Who is Jesus

Jesus is 100% Human. In Luke 1:26-38, an angel appeared to Mary and told her that God had made her pregnant through a miracle. The baby that was born is Jesus – cue Christmas! In Nazareth, Jesus grew up to become strong in spirit, he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him (Luke 2:40).

Jesus is 100% God. Jesus began his ministry at the age of 30 to proclaim the coming of God’s kingdom through him. He was known for his teachings, healings and miracles. One of the miracles recorded in John 6:5-14 was Jesus using five loaves and two fish supplied by a boy to feed 5000 people!

As his reputation spread throughout the region, Jesus became more and more of a perceived threat to the Roman leaders of the day and they sought to execute him. He was mocked, tortured and left for dead on a wooden cross just outside Jerusalem.

Three days later, Jesus appeared to his disciples. He had broken the power of death and resurrected!

What does that mean for us?

Jesus proved His deity by fulfilling the prophecies of His death and by His return from the grave. The Bible declares that “by being raised from the dead he was proved to be the mighty Son of God, with the holy nature of God Himself” (Romans 1:4).

By that, it also means to say that the proclamations he made during the course of his ministry can be trusted and should be followed. Through him, mankind has been redeemed from eternal self-destruction!
