INTRODUCTION

Pastor Cheral spoke to us about the often-overlooked aspect of the Great Commission, specifically obedience. She distilled three points:

  • Obedience needs to be taught
  • Obedience is total, not partial
  • Obedience is the mark of real discipleship

Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

[19] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The great commission is sustained and fulfilled by daily obedience. Pastor Cheral’s message is her testimony.

Are we obeying Jesus’ commands as disciples of Christ? How are we in turn teaching others to obey?

Let us declare:

We will go, we will obey, fulfilling God’s assignment all the way.

AN E1R1 REFLECTION

“We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19

We cannot give what we have not first received.

The great commission begins with Jesus declaring his authority “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples…”

Are we alive to the authority that we have in Christ? When was the last time you felt the tangible love and peace of God? If we are not filled, there is nothing to share.

Would you ask God for a fresh revelation of the depth and breadth and height of his love for you? Out of that overflowing love, would you share the good news of Christ with those around you?
